the name g:funk came about while using the Grails framework to develop projects. Grails uses the Grails tag library which is defined by using <g:tagname> . Grails also utilizes the Groovy language, so we wanted to fit in... we wanted to be hip, groovy, funky... thus came the name g:funk, in honor of Grails and its Groovy ways
